| When/How I started banding | Brought our two eldest children to the first rehearsal of Downton Youth Brass Band in June 2000 and offered to help as I could read music (being a woodwind player). Was given a cornet instead. Took it back next week, was given a euphonium and told in no uncertain terms to play it or else (Thanks Josie!). Play Euphonium on Youth Band and 2nd Bariton in Downton Band for contests. |
| Best-ever banding moment | Was persuaded by a friend in 1985 to take my clarinet to a band rehearsal in Bransgore (it was a sort of concert band) and saw this very odd person blowing into a bent trumpet (well I'd never seen a tenor horn before) and thought I ought to ask him about it. Some time after we got married and have four children, but he still hasn't told me everything he knows about brass bands... |
| Worst-ever/most embarrassing banding moment | Having to leave our children outside the Caird Hall queuing for tickets in the rain on their own, twenty minutes before we were due to play in the National Finals. I didn't have enough tickets and had to send hubby Peter abd assorted cornet players back to rescue them. I think they may have made a forced entry via a fire escape... |
| When I joined Downton Band | March 2003 |
| Favourite band piece | Haven't playing anything often enough to hate it yet! (I thought this was the favourite piece? - webmaster) |
| Least favourite band piece | Any music with 2nd baritone part that goes rest-play-rest-play-rest-play-play-play etc |
| Anything else... | Creches at Band Contests? |
