Downton Band

Trevor White

Position Solo Cornet
Nickname
When/How I started banding Brass banding is in the blood. Grandparents, parents etc, When I was 5 my dad just said ‘what are going to play?’ Being lazy I chose the cornet (It’s light to carry).  Progressed to become principal cornet of Hampshire Youth and then principal for New Forest Brass until giving up to spend more time with the family in 1998. Started again in 2010, couldn’t stay away.
Best-ever banding moment

Playing in the Albert hall after winning the National Finals with Hampshire Youth.

Worst-ever/most embarrassing banding moment

Throwing-up on a coach after too much drink in Holland, again with Hampshire Youth.

When I joined Downton Band

2010

Favourite band piece

Rusalka’s song to the Moon, Variation’s on a Ninth and a few other classic contest pieces.

Least favourite band piece The ones I can’t play.
Anything else... Downton know how to party – Hard!
