Alternatively, there's always room for more in Downton Jubilee Brass, on any instrument!

Downton Band’s open door policy means any member of our extended Brass family is welcome to come and join us for a blow. We are fortunate to have a fully attended rehearsal most weeks; an enviable rarity these days. Even then, we enjoy regular guests and friends joining us if but to dust off the cobwebs!

We'll never discourage anyone from rehearsing with us - in fact whether a visitor, guest or past member of the band, we’ll always be pleased to include you in our practices, and find you a chair, stand and a pint after the hard work’s done.

The band resides currently in the Second section nationally. As a very rough guide Grade 5 standard in your instrument would be a suggested minimum, although no-one will ask for your resumé!!

In addition, at Downton we also boast Downton Jubilee Brass - fully functioning band in it's own right, which sees all ages and from walks of life enjoying making music together. From absolute beginners wanting to learn an instrument, through to individual school pupils wanting to be involved in a band and up to those just cruising along, playing for fun with no pressure. We welcome you all!!

If either the Downton Band or the Downton Jubilee Brass are the sort of thing you think you might be interested in, don’t hesitate to contact our secretary, or indeed any of the members of the Band to have a chat about how we can stoke your interest further!!
