Why learn music?
Music is a science... it has exact specific demands, read from a musical score which is a chart detailing frequency, intensity, volume and velocity.
Music is mathematical... it is rhythmic and based on subdivisions of fractions which musicians work out instantaneously.
Music is a foreign but universal language... with instructions written in Italian, German or French, music notation itself is unlike any other language because it is understood by musicians all over the world.
Music is physical education... requiring co-ordination of the fingers, hands, lips and cheeks together with excellent control of diaphragm, back and stomach muscles.
Music takes teamwork... all musicians rely on each other to perform together, building bonds, trust and friendship.
Music is art... it allows us to turn technique into emotion and beauty.
That is why everyone should learn music, not so that one day you might become a professional musician but because music makes us more human and enriches our lives.
